Da una semplice idea una grande differenza - A big difference from a simple idea
In
the Philippines there are slums that even during summer days have a big problem:
the cabins are completely
in the dark, because of the close proximity one to another. But some students
of the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology have devised a simple and elegant solution: the solar bottles! It just takes
a plastic bottle filled
with a liter of water and a cap of bleach, which will be placed in a piece of sheet metal which in turn is placed in a hole
in the roof. The bleach is used to store water up
to 5 years, and thanks to the phenomenon of refraction the bottle carries
the light from the sun directly into
the house, as if it were a lamp!
Total cost: $ 2-3, and virtually unlimited endurance. Obviously
it does not work at night, but at
least during the day people can see
what is inside of their homes!
